Congress has now decided to give people four more months to prepare for the upcoming transition from analog to digital TV broadcasting.

American TV viewers have four extra months to get ready for the day their local stations shut down their analog transmitters, thanks to a delay in the digital TV transition approved by Congress Wednesday.

John Lyons, the county's cable TV administrator, said about 90 percent of Anne Arundel residents are either cable or satellite subscribers, meaning the change will not affect their reception.

AT&T and DirecTV launched a co-branded satellite TV service Monday. AT&T had previously partnered with Dish Network to include satellite television in the service bundles it offers customers, which can also include broadband internet, home phone and wireless services.
